DESCRIPTION STATION

A resort in the Haute Tarentaise valley in Savoie, La Plagne - Montchavin has kept its charm and identity by maintaining its traditional building styles, typical for this valley.  Part of the Paradiski and particularly La Plagne ski area we love the authenticity, the mixture of pistes, the off-piste on glaciers all the way up to the top of the North face of Bellecôte at 3200m, its forest runs and the snow under the Bijolin ski lift!  There are many more secret spots so don’t forget to ask when you collect your equipment and we’ll be happy to give you some ideas.

The village is well situated at 1250m altitude but the snow is guaranteed all season long thanks to its situation facing north/north east so the natural snowfall stays but is boosted by the comprehensive system of snow cannons.   We are the cherry on the cake for the Paradiski area being only 10 minutes from the Vanoise Express cable car, the largest in the world, which links Les Arcs to La Plagne

There is everything here in resort, whether for couples, families or groups Montchavin has restaurants, bars, ice rink, cinema and amazing views over the Italian side of the Mont Blanc mountain range.

Ski Area

There are a range of terrains and expositions to discover here, the snow is guaranteed not only by regular natural snowfall but also the snow cannons put in place to maintain the quality throughout the season.

The Paradiski area is a luxury of 425km of piste and the ski lifts in Monchavin are fast and effective at getting you up into the mountains quickly.  Discover the view points from the Aguille Rouge Glacier de la Chiaupe above 3000m.

Access

Monchavin is easily reached by the main valley road the RN90, direction Bourg Saint Maurice from Moutiers and then Landry.  The village is just 10 minutes from the main road.  Don’t forget to put your chains on in the dedicated area just after the bridge, on your right.  The road starts to climb after that so it’s the safest way to come up.

There is a train station at Landry with plenty of busses and taxis to bring you the 10 minutes up to resort as well as regular transfers from Geneva, Lyon, chambery and Grenoble.
