Cauterets is in the heart of the National Park, the villiage is actively involved in the conservation with the introduction of goats in 2014. There is a beautiful area: The Pont D’Espagne with its gigantic waterfalls, unique flora and fauna and forests full of Pyrenean Chamois (mountain goats). It’s perfect for every age.
After an exhilerating day of skiing or snow-shoeing, you can relax in the Bains du Rochers, where the spring water is a constant balmy 35°c both in the inside and outside pools.
Staying in Cauterets gives you the opportunity to ski in two ski areas. The Lys ski area is covered in natural snow all season, perfect for skiing and snowboarding, for beginners to experts. You can reach the Lys by Cabin lift in 12 minutes from the village.
Thre is also the Pont d’Espagne, accessible by car in 15 minutes or free resort busses, offering both cross country and downhill skiing, snow-shoeing, touring and sledging!
You can reach the village of Cauterets by motorway, exit Ouest at Tarbes, then follow the signes to Lourdes and Argelès-Gazost. Thanks to the excellent roads, you can be there within an hour from the motorway.
By train, there is a station at Lourdes with direct bus transfers to bring you up to resort.
By plane the closest airport is Lourdes-Trabes-Ossun with bus links to the Lourdes train station.
