In 1860, the highest point of the Vanoise massif (the Grande Casse 3 855m) was reached by two mountaineers. At the end of the 19th century, Pralognan-la-Vanoise attracted more and more holidaymakers and mountaineering enthusiasts and in 1881, the Compagnie des Guides was created. By 1911, the winter clientele was growing and in 1937 the first ski lift was built. As for the Vanoise Park, it was created in 1963 with the aim of protecting the fauna and flora present on the territory. With its rich history and alpine culture, Pralognan-la-Vanoise is a dynamic, authentic destination and a land of predilection for high-mountain hikes.
