Mont-Blanc Ultra Trail 2018
From August 27th to September 2rd, go in Chamonix for the Mont-Blanc Ultra Trail 2018. The UTMB is a must-see for trailers from all over the world.
More than 8000 enthusiastic runners meet to experience a unique experience. To run around Mont-Blanc, the participants will have to draw in their forces in order to push their mental and physical limits.
1 event, 5 events for all types of riders.
The original concept of this extreme pedestrian event distinguishes it from other races.
Indeed, the trailers will have to make a great tour of Mont Blanc, 290 km and 26500 m of D +. On and off the trails, crossing the high roads without markings on the ground, PTL requires a good sense of direction.
Each year, the different trails allow you to discover stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif in France, Italy and Switzerland. In team of 2 or 3 you will evolve in a harsh mountain environment and requiring a certain technicity.
This is why PTL is based on mental commitment, team spirit and adventure, but also on sporting values and those of the mountain.
The CCC is a wilderness race that takes place largely on the International Hiking Trail of the Tour du Mont-Blanc (GR TMB).
With its numerous passages over 2500 meters above sea level, the CCC requires in addition to excellent training, adapted equipment and a capacity of personal autonomy that will allow you to face the very harsh climatic conditions (rain, snow , Wind ...).
The departure of the center of Courmayeur immerses you in a warm atmosphere of which only the Italians have the secret. From the first kilometers, at more than 2500 m, you will enjoy an exceptional panorama vis-a-vis the Mont-Blanc and the Grandes Jorasses.
The passage to the Grand Col Ferret, perched at 2537 m, marks the start of the race in Switzerland. The route ends in France, under the charm of Vallorcine, passing by the rugged climb of the Cheserys valley, to reach the arch of the arrival in the heart of Chamonix.
The UTMB (Utra Trail of Mont Blanc) is a dream shared by many trailers. After several months of preparation, more than 2300 participants have only one objective in mind: to make the tour of the Mont-Blanc in less than two days!
This adventure out of time will begin in the moonlight. After passing the Aiguille de Bionnassay, the Cols du Bohonne and the Seigne, you will enter Italy, in the magic of the Val Veni dominated by the Noire du Peuterey and the glaciers that descend from Mont Blanc.
Later will come the Val Ferret, guarded by the Dent du Géant and the Grandes Jorasses before finally tipping into Switzerland.
Difficult conditions, which will cause a large number of runners to interrupt the course, keeping hope that they will be able to do so again next time.
As for the others, they will cross Bovine and the Tseppes, before arriving in front of the Aiguille Verte, vertically to the Drus and to the majesty of Mont-Blanc before diving towards the finish in the heart of Chamonix.
Passing by the Grande Randonnée trails of the Mont Blanc, Aosta Valley, Haute Tarentaise and Beaufortain regions, the TDS is a wilderness race that combines history and the mountains.
From Courmayeur you will pass by the "Maison Vieille" at Col Checrouit, go up the path of the UTMB to the shelter Elisabetta.
You will then continue to Col Chavannes, at 2603 m, to taste the wild splendor of the alpine pastures of Vallon de Chavannes, all along a gently sloping descent. Afterwards, you will go up to Lake Verney, before reaching the Col du petit Saint-Bernard.
Leaving the Valle d'Aosta, you will enter Haute Tarentaise, where a rough ascent of 2000 m will await you, after passing Bourg Saint Maurice.
Your efforts will take you to the splendid area of the 5 lakes, to continue towards the Col de Forclaz, Lake Esola, Passeur de Pralognan and Cormet de Roselend. After climbing the Col de la Sauce, you will take the passage of the parish priest, go up towards the Col de Gitte, cross the "Grande Pierrière" to the Col du Joly and continue down the descent to Les Contamines.
You will also have to draw energy to go up to the Col du Tricot, cross the final tongue of the Bionnassay glacier, go up to Bellevue and dive on Les Houches before joining the center of Chamonix for a triumphant arrival!
A shorter course, the OCC is ideal to start participating in the UTMB. In the Trail Ultra Medium category, between 42 km and 69 km, this course is accessible to fans of average distance.
The OCC will launch from Orcière, south-west of the canton in the Val d'Entremont. Between the eastern flank of Mont Blanc, the Franco-Swiss border and the fiery torrents, you will cross nature in a typical atmosphere, before joining Champex.
Running around Mont Blanc is above all an indoor adventure and a unique experience. Rendez-vous the last week of August in Chamonix to participate or to attend the UTMB and vibrate to the rhythm of the planet trail!
