Pierre has been working for 4 years at Val d'Isère Village, a shop he knows by heart. He started here as skiman following his first incarnation as a ski instructor! Today he’s the manager, in charge of six skimen and skiwomen [NDLR: advising technicians - skis & snowboards].
Why work for Ski Republic?
I was immediately struck by the spirit of the company, the sense of service, the concept of offering skiing at a low price to everyone. That pleased me, I think it’s important to make the mountain accessible to as many people as possible, and hire charges definitely play a role! We all share the same mindset here so I have very little turnover in my team, who willingly come back to do seasons with us: a significant plus when it comes to building a friendly, solid and efficient team!
In your opinion, what is it that makes new customers to Ski Republic come back?
At SKI REPUBLIC, il it’s not just the employees who are loyal, the customers are too. I think the first bons for the customer is the price; the second is our sense of service. Our skis and snowboards go back at least 3 times each season to Séez for a full service, guaranteeing a superb skiing experience. Even better, we’re a very integrated network, and we can lend materiel between shops to accommodate the needs of any group; it’s a real bonus being part of the Ski Republic community. Then there’s the little extras some of us can offer, like ski collection at the end of the day!
The equipment this year is really good ?
We’re very happy with the choices we’ve made whilst renewing our stock. Amongst the equipment we’ve changed, the skis we’ve picked have all been highly recommended in ski tests carried out by the specialist ski press, proof that we’ve picked well. At Ski Republic, with a third of our range entirely new, our clients will have the best of the new on their feet, notably the rockers!
So online booking works ?
Yes, very well. For us it’s almost 50 percent of our bookings. It’s a real time saver, we can prepare the order in advance and the customer just has to pick his equipment up when he arrives in resort. Though our role as advice giver is always important, notably when trying boots! Always a key moment in the skier’s week!
And your particular strong points?
Without a doubt, the quality of our equipment, and the friendly and efficient atmosphere of our shop! Even better, we’re at the foot of the slopes, as son as they have their boots on, the customer is straight out onto the pistes or into their lesson. And above all, we’re open non stop all day.
